turquoise skirt

you know what one of the least fun things on the whole earth is?? surgery. of any kind. I had wisdom teeth surgery this last Monday, and boy was that loads of fun! NOT. I never realized how much food I actually eat and really enjoy until I couldn't eat solid foods for a few days.. I do independent study so naturally I snack and eat throughout the day(all good things, don't worry). but I'm glad to say I'm eating real foods again! hooray!
soo on to my outfit! I absolutely love that spring gives us so many opportunities to wear lots of colors!

shirt: thrift store (audrey)
skirt: thrift store (no tag, no brand)
shoes: Forever 21
I always feel bad when someone says, "oh I love your skirt! where did you get it?" literally almost 85% of the time I have to tell them that I got it from a thrift store.. I feel so bad! haha. with almost every item I get from a thrift store, it's a rare and awesome find. some days I go to get some cute clothes, and I end up with a few really great items! other days I go to find some cute clothes and find absolutely nothing. it's a win lose situation, really. but! that shouldn't stop anyone! good things come to those who wait! haha.

necklace: Walmart
watch: Target
I never really shop at Walmart for clothes or Jewelry, I'm not very fond of ours in town, but I found this at a Walmart in Utah and it has given me a bit of hope for our Walmart. haha.
I didn't wear a shade under this shirt because it covered me very nicely. I constantly find myself checking my shoulders to see if my straps are showing or pulling up my top in case it's too low--it's a habit. but now that I wear undershirts almost all the time, I love not having to worry about those annoying details! and I also check my modesty constantly! haha.
SO, stay modest. respect those around you by respecting yourself. and most importantly show your Father in Heaven that you love the body He has given you by keeping it modest(and healthy..I'll be doing some food posts soon now that summer is near..).

camel pencil skirt

happy Sunday everyone! hope you all had a wonderful weeek! I did, for the most part. I didn't get to these two big things I really needed to, but all I can do is hope for the time and ability to do them this week! so, here's to positive thinking for the rest of the week..... who's with me??:)
here's today's outfit!

shirt: Kohls (Lauren Conrad)
skirt: Target (Merona)
shoes: Styluxe
my oldest sister Erin tells me pencil skirts are too business-like, and I've come to agree with her over time. I think the black ones are more like that, but the colored ones are fun--especially when you add different colors and some exciting jewelry. my favorite thing to do is grab a pencil skirt and see what kind of shirt I can pair with it. I got this camel colored pencil skirt recently, so today I paired it with one of my favorite color combinations: light blue and camel. loose blouses are paired really well with pencil skirts because the skirt has a tight fit, so the blouse adds some extra fun to it!

(don't mind the filter on this photo, I'm not sunburned! haha)
necklace: Forever 21
earrings: Forever 21
soo it'd a well known fact that I kind of love Forever 21 simply because of their jewelry. honestly, have you ever been in jewelry area? I want it all. no kidding though! the prices can be really good, but some can be quite ridiculous. anyways, I decided to go with gold today because it went with the camel skirt. gold is super nice and goes well with a lot of neutrals, which is why I like it!
hope everyone had a good Sunday! and I hope you all have a wonderful week as well. I hope this week goes smoothly for me--I have a few road blocks coming up but I'm hoping to get over them really fast! haha summer is juust around the corner!! so excited!

Easter Sunday dress

happy happy Easter everyone! I hope you have all had an absolutely amazing day so far. remember to ponder on the real and true meaning of this holiday, as it has changed and shaped each and every one of our lives. here's a beautiful video to check it out.. http://easter.mormon.org/?cid=HPTU041514694
so here's my 'Easter Sunday' dress!
(we never do Easter Sunday dresses, but my outfit was fitting. :) haha)

dress: Papaya
shoes: Forever21
jacket: Merona (a Target brand)
I really loved this outfit! it was way fun to coordinate colors. I've made a goal to wear every item in my closet and have it up on the blog. haha, that's pretty ambitious of me to say--but it's worth a try! it's way too common for us girls to keep things in our closets that we never ever wear!! I'm so beyond guilty of this, and it's okay. haha I've had multiple people ask me for help to gut their closets with them because they need to get rid of things but just didn't know how! over the last year I've gone through my closet at least 3 times and thrown out the old items I never wear. it's really good to do this semi-annually, try it!

necklace: turquoise teardrop from Etsy
bracelets: Forever21
Shade: ModBod
so I want to talk about my shade under this dress here for a second. I got it at ModBod for only $15.95 and I wear it under soo many things! it's awesome! this is one of the best and most secure ways to stay modest. I use them under almost all of my shirts now to get ready for my mission and life after that--it's best to get used to it now rather than later! I have 5 shades: brown, cream(in the picture above), white, black, and pink. lots of neutrals, I love neutrals. :)
tights: Forever21
love my tights. :) I have sheer pink ones with pink bows on them(in the picture above), sheer grey ones with hearts on them, and sheer black ones with small polka-dots on them. tights are fun! they add a little excitement to your outfit and always look great!! and they're not pricey:)

P.S. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. don't forget to remember the one who gave our lives purpose:) http://easter.mormon.org/?cid=HPTU041514694

green pencil skirt

soo I took a break for the last two weeks.. haha sorry guys! I was in Utah and had a busy Sunday, and last week it was General Conference. but, I'm back!:)
so here's my outfit from today!
shirt: H&M (thrift store)
skirt: Target
shoes: Kohls (Candie's)
necklace: Target
I love love love patterns and stripes. this is a really great color combination! navy blue with dark green is always fun and exciting. I got this lace skirt from my best friend's sister a few weeks ago and thought it'd be fun to pair it with stripes! I threw in the black shoes to give the outfit a kick, and the necklace to make statement(obviously haha). try experimenting with patterns and stripes in your wardrobe! it's fun:)
so here's a sweet thought from today. a 14yr old girl who I've known for years gave a talk in sacrament meeting at church today. she spoke on keeping her standards strong through dress and appearance. something that was said during her talk totally caught my attention: "it's not what you wear that makes you a child of God, it's what you do and say." I'm not sure if that was a quote from someone else or something she said--but I love it. I feel that people find it so critical that they always have the best things in this life, whether it be cars, clothes, houses, or anything materialistic. but people miss the fact that the Lord loves us no matter what. He sees past our outside image and looks towards what really matter inside of us. it's so great looking at those who surround us and being able to see the good inside of them and truly realize that each of us are children of God. hope you all had a wonderful Sunday!!

cream skirt

SPRING IS HERE. so, naturally, the bright colors are coming out:) yay! haha. I love this time of year! 1) everything is green, blooming, and beautiful. 2) it means summer is  j u s t  around the corner..eeepp! 3) and since summer is around the corner, that means school is almost out..hallelujaaah!!
anywhoo, here's my outfit from church today.

skirt: Forever 21
shirt: thrift store (Cabi)
shoes: Forever 21
not like you can see them very well.. but here's my accessories:
earrings: Forever 21
necklace: turquoise teardrop from Etsy
bracelet: simple gold bracelet with initial "M" from Etsy
I usually try to pick out my outfits for church the night before, but last night I was too tired. so this morning I was like, "oh joy. what to wear todaay.." then I realized the first day of spring was 3 days ago, so I went straight for this blouse I found at Goodwill a few weeks ago. it's so fun and colorful, and goes great with this cream skirt! also, I did my hair today. I like it like this. :)

bow: Claire's
I was curling my hair this morning and realized I needed to leave in 5 minutes, so I did a quick curl. the result was a super poofy-looking section of my hair on each side, so I tied it back with a little rubber ponytail and put this bow in. I like this look! super cute and super simple. I don't like pinning the whole front half back I've decided, so I left my bangs (they're hardly bangs, they're just about as long as the rest of my hair) out in front.
the Sister Missionaries complemented me on my outfit, so I think that means it's mission-worthy attire. ;) it's best to prepare for modesty now, rather than last minute before your mission or marriage in the temple! you should be modest always. being modest shows others that you respect yourself, and your body!

corilynn skirt

I started following Corilynn on Facebook almost a year ago, and have loved Cori's style ever since I saw her first item of clothing. the skirts may be a bit expensive, I got this skirt on sale, but it is soo worth it for a modest and cute skirt or dress! not to mention the skirt is SO comfortable and it's such good quality!

skirt: Corilynn
shirt: Express
shoes: Forever 21
so this was a pretty fun outfit! I loved mixing the patterns and jewelry today. the skirt's pattern looked really good with the small polka-dot pink shirt. I like mixing and matching patterns. it can be a bit tricky but it's way fun when two items of clothing totally work together!

necklace: Target (clearance section.)
bracelets: Forever 21
I also tried mixing and matching my jewelry today! it worked out well--I think! haha. my sister told me a bit ago to try and mix gold with silver. I kind of looked at her like she was crazy! haha. but I tried it a few weeks ago, and today, and I like it! I feel like it depends on what you're mixing together when it comes to gold and silver pieces of jewelry. my necklace had those clear jewels, and so did my bracelets--so it worked! I had silver shoes on to go with my necklace, but I had shades of pink on today that went with my bracelets as well!
so, just some fun little things to think about today. mixing and matching looks great and it's always fun to spice things up every once and a while!!

black pencil skirt

here's today's outfit!

shirt: Forever 21
skirt: Banana Republic (thrift store)
shoes: Forever 21
last night I set my alarms to get up exactly an hour and 45 minutes before church so I would be ON TIME and READY..so my moms comes in my room at 8:13, church starts at 9, and is like, "Meg, your alarms didn't go off!" soo I freaked out. lovely situation, right?? haha I got ready on time though, thankfully!
so, these shoes are about 5 and a quarter inches..needless today, I couldn't walk for a few minutes once I got home and took them off. whoever said beauty is painful was so right, it's not even funny! haha breaking in shoes isn't always fun, but it's necessary! I'm going to buy some sole inserts so I don't eternally bruise the balls of my feet!! haha

I've decided I really only like one hair style on me, and that's my hair down and curled..but having my hair the same way each week is boring! haha I like putting in back sometimes, and throwing a bow in there is fun too. :)
have a good week everyone!!

love, megs. :)
